My first quarter as a Grade 10 student had been very fun and memorable. It felt like everyday, I ventured to unknown paths, but in the end, I would navigate and familiarize my way to the joyful end. Sure, my first day was plagued with crawling sickness of my anxiety in meeting new faces and lessons, but eventually, as the days went by and I was paired in multiple group activities and projects, I have learned to collaborate effectively with my colleagues, which enhanced my teamwork and communication skills. The lessons were truly effective in refreshing my brain. Plate boundaries in Science, a recap that refreshed our minds in Research, newly discovered morals in ESP, recent and modern music and art in MAPEH, understanding an electronic circuit in Basic Electronics, timelines of the internet in ICT, geometric formulas in Math, minor problems of the Philippines in AP, stories, grammar, and listening in English and Filipino.
Because of the pandemic, we were not able to totally get the hang of being a SSC student. Time and workload management was not a learning skill I am good at. It took me a while to get used to handling the big loads of assignments, projects, and requirements given. Balancing work and personal life has been a recurring challenge, and there were times when I felt overwhelmed by the demands on my time and energy. I spend some late nights doing school related activities and classes started at 7:30AM. Cramming was my lifeline in passing before the deadline.
To address the challenges I encountered, I implemented a few strategies. To manage my time better, I started using a task management system and created a detailed schedule that helped me prioritize tasks and allocate time efficiently. I also learned to say “no” to some commitments that were not directly aligned with my goals to maintain a healthier work-life balance. I also improved my problem-solving skills by breaking down complex issues into smaller more manageable tasks.
Though hard to sink in, this is our last first quarter as a Junior High School Student. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020, our batch were unable to savor their last days as elementary students and celebrate our graduations. The modular learning system did not suffice our expectations as a freshman and only gave us scraps of knowledge. This resulted in us feeling that last school year was our first, and this year is our second. My friends last year are still my friends today. Naturally, I can't help but feel a pang of sadness as that thought crosses my mind once in a while.
Moving forward into the next quarter, I will continue to build upon the lessons and experiences from the first quarter. I will strive to further refine my time management skills, seeking opportunities to streamline processes and reduce unnecessary distractions. I will also focus on enhancing my problem-solving skills and continue to adapt to new technologies and tools as they arise. In terms of work-life balance, I will maintain a vigilant approach, ensuring that I allocate enough time for personal well-being and relaxation. Actively seek out new learning opportunities and remain open to gaining fresh insights and experiences. Overall, I am committed to personal and professional growth and will use the knowledge and skills acquired in the first quarter to propel me forward in the coming months.
